Welcome

Dear Teachers, Students and friends of ANZCA,

As another year draws to a close, I'd like to sincerely thank you for your continued support of ANZCA Music Examinations. I hope you found the year to be rewarding and fulfilling, and that students felt positive about their examination experience. ANZCA's mission is to provide an encouraging and friendly examination environment without compromising standards, and I hope you found this to be the case in 2016. Your feedback on any examination matter is welcome at my personal email address: manager@anzca.com .

As we look back over the year, a major highlight was certainly the second biennial conference at the ANU in Canberra, which provided a great opportunity for teachers and students to connect and exchange ideas. Looking ahead to 2017, there is much anticipation and excitement about the launch of ANZCA's new Jazz Syllabus (primarily for wind and brass). All pieces for this new syllabus have been composed exclusively for ANZCA by internationally-renowned composer Christopher Norton. Valuable performance advice by Board Director Doug McGregor is also a feature in this groundbreaking syllabus, which will be launched in July 2017 with examinations to commence in Series 1, 2018.

From everyone at ANZCA Music Examinations, including Board Directors Barry Archibald, Maureen Grieve, Maureen Milton OAM, Doug McGregor and Jenny Brown, and office staff Tony, Andrew, Brenda and Anna, we wish you all the very best for Christmas, the holiday period, and a successful 2017.

Tony Betros, General Manager

From our Representatives...

Audrey Chin, Malaysia & Singapore

Christmas is here and we are taking a break like everyone else! Some may choose the cold winter and some the sizzling summer; nevertheless it is holiday time and we wish all a happy time in this season of love, joy, hope and peace.

As musicians we will never stop making music, especially when these times are filled with tunes wherever we are to remind us of the celebration. I am pretty sure many students' last few sessions will be assignments of their favourite Christmas carols in different styles.

The new Grade Four Theory book may be a good gift to students as a holiday assignment! :)  I am looking forward to feedback and teachers in Malaysia and Singapore in 2017.

Merry Christmas and Selamat Hari Natal!!

Sinta Wiriawaty Mawardi, Indonesia

This month's Indonesia report comes from Board Director Maureen Grieve, who conducted the November examinations.

As many teachers' emails are unknown, I would like, via Stretto, to thank very sincerely all those teachers who offered such wonderful hospitality during my recent examining and workshop sessions in Indonesia. Your kindness made a busy trip most enjoyable. It was great to renew friendships and to make so many new ones.

A very special thank you to Sinta and Jenny, whose meticulous planning and exceptional organisational skills leave nothing to chance. And to Jenny, who travelled with me for most of the trip particularly to ensure my safety and to facilitate the smooth running of all activities, I appreciate the time and effort you gave.

Above all, I must congratulate all teachers for the high standard of work presented by students and for embracing ANZCA so enthusiastically. Thank you all once again,

Mrs Maureen (Grieve)
